Please help me write an essay that portrays these details- I want to describe the event which sparked a period of personal growth within myself. Last summer I travelled to india, and stayed at a sports school hostel for 2 months, I helped volunteer every day and participated in their daily activities such as waking up every day at 5 Am excersising for 2 hours, and then eat according to a strict healthy diet plan. And a prayer session every night I went to school with the kids who were there and observed how the teaching practices differed so greatly from America. I learned to appreciate the small things in life such as having friends who truly care for you and support you no matter what as it was more of a brotherhood than friendship,I also learned the importance of family and the value of having a positive cultural influence. I learned how you don’t need material things to make you happy as these kids were the happiest people I’ve ever seen and they stayed in their own small rooms with no AC, with 4 other roommates, they are required to use dirty community bathrooms and have the bare minimum. My stay here helped me understand how I was so blessed to have the many luxuries associated with staying in a upper middle class American home. Throughout my stay I helped them get new equipment helped fund renovations for basic things such as repainting the basketball courts, getting new equipment for their gymnasium, organizing cleaning crews to get rid of the weeds and trash in the area. In addition my stay helped me realize the importance of involving in religious and cultural occasions as it is an essential part of Indian norms to participate in spiritual activities. I also came to appreciate how blessed I was to have a supportive family and the ability to have extra stuff besides the basic needs of life. I reflected to the times I took everything for granted and didn’t respect the things I was blessed with. Overall this experience helped me develop an underStanding for the importance of being grateful for what you have and to always make best of any situation your in and be positive and happy, as well as how I regretted my previous attitude to things I had, however this trip helped me change my perspective and be more appreciative. As well as allowing me to help people by supporting them and providing the things I am able to provide and it helped me develop my religious beliefs as I became more involved with Hinduism and the significance of being involved with the culture and living with them while following their schedules also helped me develop my physical health and mental health and the additional activities helped me develop my spiritual mind
